Life of a gaijin in Japan

Spring officially started last Wednesday on the 21st.  And my moods have improved considerably after my trip to Kyoto.  I will finish writing my reviews soon, by today, I am genki (happy).  The weather is amazing outside, the cherry blossoms are blooming, and I love my elementary and kindergarten kids!

I taught a lesson at this after-school program yesterday night, and I LOVE teaching elementary and kindergarten students.  I love my junior high kids, don’t get me wrong, but when it comes to excitement, enthusiasm and energy, nothing beats the younger ones.  I will start bringing my camera to these classes soon, so I can take pics and you can see how cute and smart they are ;)   They particularly love playing janken (rock, paper and scissors) with me at the end of the class and tossing my Totoro plushie around.

京都 – Kyoto.  Although highly commercialized, the remnants of the city’s imperial glory strikes me as amazing.  There are no words to describe Kyoto; you have to experience it.

Living in Yamanashi, where mountains abound, can get sickening.  I love the prefecture a lot because of its small size and predictable weather, but being land-locked also means that I can feel suffocated.  My 3-day trip to Kyoto has refreshed me, and I hope to write more in-detail reviews on this blog in the future.

I’m here, connected to the world. Having no internet at home has barred me from existing. But hopefully I am back for good.
